Continued Craziness

As I mentioned in my previous post, things have been crazy. Well, things have continued to be crazy. I am barely keeping up with orders as they come in. Whilst people often respond that this is a nice problem to have, I’m in danger of getting a reputation of being glacially slow to deliver, and my freelance work is suffering. It is only with the help of a friend that I am getting order fulfilled, and I’m looking into making that an official arrangement. This takes a little time, so please bear with me. Growth is painful and I appreciate your patience!

A Bushido release was promised, and is still coming, but I managed to get a few new squad packs products added to the store, as these are really just a packaging variation. I hope they prove useful for people.

For any fans of the wheels I’ve produced, you’ll be happy to know I’ve bought the new SM buggy and will be working on some wheels for it. This will take some time, and the Bushido release will happen first.

Grav Release

Well, it has been a crazy couple of weeks! The katana-style swords and outrider wheels sets have been in huge demand, making it very difficult for me to fulfil orders in a timely fashion – even those without wheels. I’m mostly caught up now, but those items may still be subject to delays, as I haven’t yet managed to build up a good stock of all options.

Anyway, a new release! 100% grav pads! If there are any other existing designs you would like in grav format, please use the contact form to let me know. There is no setup fee for updating an existing design to grav format.

I’ll have more Bushido releases coming in a week or so. Only a month later than I hoped!

Ride Out!

The existing bike wheels range has been modified to produce kits which, with a little careful cutting, will fit GW’s Indomitus Outrider bikes.

These are also, of course, available in a squad pack.

Released on the store a few weeks back, a range of Japanese-inspired swords…

…plus some saya, or scabbards, which can be assembled sheathed or drawn.

GW, Games Workshop, Space Marine, 40K, Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Outrider, Indomitus are either ® or ™, and/or © Games Workshop Limited

Hunkering Down

First of all, thank you to everyone who has ordered since we went into isolation and then lockdown. It’s really helped to have some sales coming in. Despite fulfilling print-on-demand orders, I’ve been somewhat anxious about the delay in fulfilling the rest leading to a massive pile to catch up on! Fortunately, I was able to access my workshop this week and retrieve the bulk of my resin stock. This means many orders containing pauldrons, hands, wildlife, etc. have been packed.

Whilst resin products may be listed as in-stock, I am normally able to cast them when actual stock is depleted. This currently isn’t the case, so those order containing items which need to be cast are still on hold. I will email those customers as soon as I have an understanding of the situation.

I still can’t say when I may be able to restart the casting side of the business. Even if I can gain access to my workshop again in order to retrieve equipment and materials, the business has expanded somewhat since I moved out of the garage – and quite a few other things have moved in to take the space – so I’m not quite sure how to arrange things. As it stands the conservatory is already housing a couple of 3D printers, postage boxes, and crates of resin products!

I’ll try to get a stock-take done soon, so you can know whether the item you want exists or not. In the meantime, feel free to contact me and ask in advance of placing an order. Additionally, I’d like to clarify what is definitely available to order:

Anything with the ‘print-on-demand’ tag

Speaking of movement trays, there are a few new releases! These designs were made at the request of two customers. Need something custom? Just ask!

Stay safe and paint your minis!

Year of the Risen Sun

They’re finally here! Bushido Chits!

Many of you have been waiting a couple of months for me to finally publish these. Honestly, I was waiting until I had taken photos of each colour and material option, but have decided I’ll do that as I fulfil orders for each of those colours.

I’ve been working for a long time on a full set of Bushido chits (I refer to them collectively as chits due to counters, markers, and tokens each being distinct things in-game).

  • Markers Set: 48 double-sided Markers
  • Counters Set: 34 double-sided Counters
  • Tokens Set: 18 double-sided Tokens
  • Ki tokens Set: 35 double-sided Ki Tokens

Each is available in budget MDF, a selection of coloured acrylics and, my personal favourite, bamboo.

Each type of chit has a specific shape, to help identify them quickly in your storage container. Markers are triangular, counters are rectangular, and tokens are round. Many people, like myself, already use cheap Chinese New Year coins for Ki Tokens, so I’ve split them into their own set.
They are also all double-sided, to minimise the amount of time you spend looking for the one you need.
Translucent and fluorescent acrylic options will be available at a later date, but will have to be single-sided, for obvious reasons. You can also expect faction-specific sets to follow, though these won’t duplicate anything in this wave of sets.

I’ve bundled the sets together into the Chits Set, consisting of one of each set except the Ki Tokens, and the Megaset, which includes the Ki Tokens.

Bushido MDF Tokens Set
MDF Tokens Set

The MDF sets are line-engraved very simply, and are easy to read. They could be painted for additional clarity, of course.

The Bamboo sets are engraved with deeper and wider details and shouldn’t require any painting, thanks to the charring of the wood.

The Acrylic sets are engraved in the same way as the Bamboo sets but, without the charring, this doesn’t create the same clarity. I recommend painting these with a contrasting colour. The masking is left on to aid this. Any hobby paint will do. I experimented with spray-painting below, and that seemed to work, though you’ll want to do a couple of coats and may need to tidy a little with isopropyl alcohol or a similar solvent.

Bushido Player Aids

The much-delayed ZoC rings clip on to a miniature’s base to show a 180 arc to the front of the miniature, with a notch to show the front. These can be handy to adjust the arc during a game for those situations where a model’s weapon prevents proper alignment, or even if you just hate marking the arcs by hand.

Joining these are two card-sized plastic solutions for Kimiko Hoshi’s Ice Patch and Kaito’s Tilled Field, from the Minimoto Clan and Temple of Ro-Kan factions, respectively.

3D Alien Worlds Scenery

A few newly-added products. The rice barn is the first of the buildings . Farmhouses should follow in a month or so. Buildings like this do take a long time to print, so please bear that in mind when ordering.

I’ve also customised a host of ruined variations on the stone walls pieces. These ruined versions make the stone walls more usable for games played on smaller boards, such as Bushido.
